Celopl\u00e1s, Pl\u00e1sticos para a Ind\u00fastria S.A. was founded in 1989 and today has a building area of 12 700m\u00b2 in a total area of 41 000m\u00b2. The current team has more than 180 employees, working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on a production hall with more than 70 injection moulding machines.<\/p>\n

Today, Celopl\u00e1s projects, develops and manufactures more than 200 million of technical and precision components per year, by injection moulding and micro injection moulding, \u00a0using more than 200 different types of thermoplastics, thermosettings and liquid silicon rubber materials, for automotive, electronics, electrical, optics, construction, medical and other industries.<\/p>\n

Along with this activity, Celopl\u00e1s develops and manufactures precision moulds and micro moulds, for own production, using the most recent machining and micromachining technologies.<\/p>\n

LEIMSA addresses the development of disruptive components for the interior of the vehicle of the future with purpose of following the market evolutive trends in the automotive industry and anticipate materialization.<\/p>\n

In the results, will be integrated decorative elements and distinctive functionalities with the least possible operations, using emergent technologies in the mould (in-mould operations) and lightweight, such as In-Mould Decoration (IMD), In-Mould Labeling (IML), High Pressure Forming (HPF) and In-Mould Electronics (IME), for the development of intelligent and haptic surfaces, with attractive 3D seamless design and a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) that will be immersive and intuitive, centered in the user experience.<\/p>\n

The COUNTED project: Coronavirus Transmission: Count and Detect proposes to develop and validate a new platform to identify the potential of individuals to transmit the SARS CoV-2 virus through the aerosol route, which is the most common route of this virus transmission. The platform will take samples via exhaled breath condensate (EBC) collection and will analyse these samples for the presence of the virus. This consortium project is led by INL \u2013 International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, in collaboration with the co-promoters: CELOPL\u00c1S \u2013 Pl\u00e1sticos para a Ind\u00fastria, S.A., DTx \u2013 Digital Transformation CoLab and 2CA- Centro Cl\u00ednico Acad\u00e9mico.<\/p>\n

The SIMPLIFIED + project aims to protect intellectual and industrial property through a European patent application filled at the INPI or, alternatively, at the European Patent Office, resulting from the project in co-promotion SIMPLIFIED – Easy Tooth Abutment, co-financed by Portugal 2020, under the Incentive System for Research and Technological Development (SI I&DT)<\/p>\n

The aim of the SIMPLIFIED + project is to bring together the necessary conditions for a correct, fast, ambitious exploration of results from the Simplified Project, where a new solution for dental implantology was investigated and developed, centered on a universal abutment, compatible with any conventional implant in a unique and simplified retention system applicable to fixed or removable prostheses.<\/p>\n

This solution aims to offer patients and healthcare professionals a new product that is significantly faster, cheaper, and more beneficial to the success of dental treatment.<\/p>\n

The protection of intellectual property resulting from the Simplified Project will allow to safeguard the investment in R&D carried out by the consortium and by Portugal 2020 and accelerate the time-to-market of the invention.<\/p>\n

High Precision Process Chains for the Mass Production of Functional Structured Surfaces<\/p>\n

ProSurf aims to transfer a selection of advanced methods for surface modification into industrial massproduction lines that use replicative processes. Replication is the established method of choice for massproduction of polymer and, in several cases, of ceramic goods. Therefore, replication-based production is of highest relevance when one aims to improve the cost\/performance ratio of mass-products. In addition, structuring replication moulds in established process chains avoids the complex problems that in-line structuring creates. To ensure that ProSurf\u2019s methods can easily be implemented, in particular if several surface modifying methods are to be combined, we go beyond isolated technology development; we mirror the entire production process including handshake between different stages, off-line and in-line quality monitoring, and modelling. In consequence, the results of ProSurf would cover a broad scope of applications and have a vast potential to trigger further innovations. To showcase the performance of ProSurf\u2019s solutions, we will carry out demonstration studies improving actual products of our industrial consortium members.<\/p>\n

VECTOR (Versatile Easy installable Connector implementing new Technologies for accelerated fiber Optic network Roll-outs in Europe) was a European Commission funded research and innovation initiative in which universities and telecom industry teamed up to develop an innovative, low-cost and easy field-installable optical fiber connector technology. It exploits the latest developments in the field of heat-shrinkable materials, nano-materials, high-tech gels, micro-fabrication and micro-mechanical alignment systems to achieve optical connections with superior specifications. Partners from all over Europe have teamed up to achieve these goals. The project, coordinated by CommScope, also relied on important contributions from DEMCON Advanced Mechatronics BV (The Netherlands), Celopl\u00e1s \u2013 Pl\u00e1sticos para a Ind\u00fastria SA (Portugal), Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Universiteit Gent (Belgium), Telecom Italia S.p.A.
